Baseball
The Alma baseball team continued their early campaign with a pair of wins at Frankenmuth. The Panthers took both games by scores of 7-6 and 3-1 to improve their season record to 4-0. In game one sophomore Justin Doyle got the win in relief. Alma tied the game at six in the sixth with a two-RBI squeeze bunt by senior Toph Roethlisberger, and then scored the go-ahead run in the seventh. In game two senior Matt Young got the win on the bump, going three innings allowing just one run and striking out four. Junior Zach Hanson got a save, throwing three innings of hitless relief while striking out six and walking four. Alma will next play Tuesday when they host Michigan Lutheran Seminary.
Golf
The Panther golf team won the first TVC Jamboree of the season on Thursday at Chesaning. Senior Jay Green led the way for Alma, shooting a 5-under 30 on the day. Sophomore Cody Yates shot a 41, while junior Chance Allen shot a 45 andsenior Luke Mallory shot a 48. Alma is competing today at the Alma Invite, and again tomorrow at the Shepherd Jamboree.

The Panther softball team fell twice on Thursday to host Frankenmuth by scores of 11-1 and 12-0. On Saturday Alma won game one of the Vestaburg tournament by a commanding score of 15-5 over Lansing Eastern. In game two the Panthers held a 10-5 lead going into the last inning against Haslett with a chance for a birth in the championship game against Fulton. Alma got the first two outs while Haslett scraped across one run to cut the lead to 10-6. The Vikings would then rally to score to score five and take an 11-10 victory. The Panthers would then fall 10-2 to host Vestaburg in the weekend finale. Alma will next play on Tuesday against MLS.

The Alma boys and girls track teams competed this weekend at the Mohawk Relays at Morley-Stanwood High School. The Panthers boys finished second while the girls took third. Seniors Curtis Doyle and Clayton Carr combined to win both the shot-put and discus relays on the boys side while senior Lexi Morton and sophomore Cassie Nelson took second in both events on the girls side. The boys pole-vaulting tandem of junior Jacob Adams and sophomore Ezra Faust won as well, while the distance medley of Adams, senior Jake Morey, junior Damian Castillo, and sophomore Hayden Bailey took tops in their event. The Panthers claimed second place finishes on the day in the 4x800 relays for both the boys and girls, 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400 for the girls, and the 3,200 run relay for boys. The next competition for track and field will be Wednesday when they host Ovid-Elsie and Freeland.
